Traditional dishes include the Sciat, crispy fritters with melted cheese centers, pizzoccheri, polenta, Taroz, a dish of potatoes and green beans, dressed with butter and Valtellinese cheese, and many local cheeses and cured meats.

The most famous alpine cheese, Bitto, is used in various typical Valtellinese dishes and produced directly by the valley's breeders.

Throughout the year, the municipality and pro loco of Santa Caterina Valfurva organize numerous events to experience and learn about the history and traditions of this small town. Festivals, events, and evenings liven up the days, unique moments to get to know typical artisanal and farming environments from decades ago

A few kilometers away is the Vallivo di Valfurva "Mario Testorelli" museum, famous for telling the history, traditions, and culture of Valtellina, with a noteworthy section dedicated to World War I.

The alpine climate and snowmaking systems make it possible to ski on over 35 km of slopes, walk or snowshoe on beautiful snowy paths, or enjoy a hot beverage while admiring the majestic mountains surrounding Santa Caterina Valfurva.

The lifts in Santa Caterina start from 1738m in the town and reach up to 2880m on Mount Sobretta. In total, there are 10 lifts, 2 black slopes, 12 red slopes, and 2 blue slopes.

Children are also guaranteed to have a good time, with ski schools and magic carpets helping them to learn the sport thanks to the skilled teachers at the Santa Caterina Valfurva ski school.
